Competitive Excellence

A Legacy of Success

Each year, Leaside Volleyball Club is home to 20+ youth volleyball teams, girls and boys – ranging in ages from 12U – 18U.

Year after year, our teams proudly represent Leaside in the OVA Indoor Competition circuit, Volleyball Canada’s National Championships, and elite tournaments throughout North America.

We are proud to share that all Leaside Volleyball teams will compete in the OVA’s top division – Division 1 – for the 2026/27 club season.

While we are proud of our competitive success, our greatest measure of achievement is the growth of our athletes. Many Leaside athletes continue on to play at post-secondary programs across Canada and the United States, professionally, and even with the Canadian National Team.

Your Path To Excellence

  • Athlete Selections Athlete Identification is required for all competitive programs.

In accordance with the 2026/27 OVA Tryout Policy, returning athletes may be re-signed as early as June 1 and new athletes may be signed as early as July 1 (14U - 18U). Open tryouts for remaining roster positions will be held in September.

We strongly encourage all interested athletes to attend an Open Gym(s) this spring to ensure they are seen by our coaches and considered as we build our teams for the 2026/27 season.

Provincial Pathway

Provincial Teams

12U – 18U • 7 Months • 2x/Week

Leaside’s Provincial Teams provide a high-performance training and competition environment within the OVA circuit, culminating in the Provincial Championships, with many teams also competing in U.S. tournaments.

Our coaches focus on long-term athlete development — physically, mentally, and competitively — while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and resilience.

Being part of a Leaside Provincial team requires commitment from athletes, families, coaches, and the club. Athletes are expected to embrace a structured training environment, strive for continuous improvement, and contribute positively to their team both on and off the court.

  • September Tryouts and evaluation. Offers are extended and placements confirmed.
  • October Twice-weekly on-court training begins. Coaching staff outlines season plans.
  • Nov – April Competition in OVA tournaments, culminating in the Ontario Championships.

Tournament schedules vary by team and are set by coaching staff. Teams compete in OVA events, primarily in the GTA, with some provincial travel required.

Our National-Level teams compete at the highest levels across Ontario, Canada and internationally. This program is built to prepare driven athletes for the next stage of their journey.

National teams represent our most demanding pathway, requiring significant commitment in technical training, competition, travel, and physical preparation.

  • September Intensive tryouts. Evaluators assess skill and development potential for placement.
  • October 2.5 on-court sessions per week begin. Competition plans and budgets finalized.
  • Nov – April OVA tournaments through April, culminating in Volleyball Canada Nationals in May.

Teams compete in OVA circuit events and Volleyball Canada Youth Nationals hosted at various locations in Canada.
